The artists at Bainbridge Studios have a reputation for producing contemporary and innovative editions in both textiles and fine art print, which is show cased here in our gallery.

Bainbridge Studios have two sites, one in West Norwood and the other in Elephant and Castle.
The Elephant and Castle studio is divided into studios, desk spaces and the main print room.
Studios and desk spaces come with 24hr access to the print room. The Open Access membership is run from this premises.
The West Norwood studio provides 10 spaces all with access to the shared screen printing facilities, including UV exposure unit and wash out sink, and Etching press.

OPEN ACCESS @ Elephant and Castle
Our open access works through a session pass scheme – you simply buy the pass up front and then phone or email to book your sessions.
The open access is for printers that are confident enough to print independently, those that need a little extra assistance are asked to print on Wednesdays when we offer technicial support, or to join a short course.
For new members there is a compulsory one off induction, which is normally at the beginning of your first session.
This has an additional charge or £25.
10 sessions £175 to be used within 6 months from start date.
6 sessions £125 to be used within 3 months from start date.
On Mondays we offer technical support throughout the morning and afternoon sessions in the etching area.
On Wednesdays we offer technical support throughout the morning and afternoon sessions in the screen printing area.
Non-member daily rate
We welcome visiting artists from around the world to join us for short projects without having commit for longer that a day at a time. So if you have a project that requires a short intensive period in the studio come and join us for the day.

Screen Printing Courses for Beginners.
This course can also be used as a refresher.
These short courses are run over four Monday evenings or Saturday Mornings and are designed to equip those new to screen printing with the basic knowledge and experience to work independently.
– preparing screens form hand drawn or digital images
– exposing screens
-printing on paper or other materials
Fees: £165 for 4 sessions, which is run over 5 weeks allowing participants to miss a week if need be.
Classes are kept small to ensure that everyone gets a full understanding of the process.
The Monday evening classes starts as near to 6.30 as possible though we understand that people are having to travel after work. Saturday Morning classes run from 10 am until 1pm.

Fabric Screen Printing
This fabric screen-printing course is designed for intermediates printers or printers with some experience of the process. It is a 4 evening course.
During this course you will create and prepare screens ready for you to print on fabric. Using hand cut paper stencils, hand drawn images and digitally printed positives. You will produce your own designs and be taught how to print repeat patterns to cover large areas of fabric.
At the end of this course you will be able to work safely and independently during our open access hours
Course Start Dates: Tuesday 6 September for 4 weeks.

One day introduction to Printing on Fabric
This introduction to fabric screen-printing is designed for 4 beginners or can be used as a refresher. It’s a great taster of the processes and what can be acheieved. You will work with own designs and will leave with a meter square of printed fabric.
All materials are included.

Times- 10am – 4pm
This course is suitable for beginners but will also benefit those with experience of the process.
This course is run over one full day. 10-4pm
The course is a perfect introduction to intaglio printmaking. Collagraphs are made with non specialist materials using texture to build a plate and to hold the ink. They are inked and printed using an etching press. Its an accessible, affordable and an environmentally friendly printmaking technique that can produce exciting results. The process is demonstrated as you make your own prints with the help and guidance from printmaker Katherine Jones.
Katherine will demonstrate both intaglio and relief printmaking techniques and will ensure that you have enough knowledge to take advantage of the open access facilities on completion of the day course.
For those who would like to extend the guidance the opportunity to repeat the course is available at a discounted rate.

RESIDENT ARTIST SPACES
Bainbridge Studios provide spaces for practising artists including access to the screen printing and intaglio facilities
In May each year artists are invited to showcase their work as part of the Open Studios Scheme.
Artists who wish to apply for an individual space should complete the application form and submit it with a CV/website address and a minimum of 3 jpegs of their work made within the last 12 months.
Screen printing editioning services, executed by experienced professional printmakers are available. Work can be adapted and produced to individual specifications.
